Scenario #6 - Fall Emergency at Rock Crushing Site
Background:
At 5:00 pm on December 15th, an ARI Rock Crushing team (2 Laborers, 1 Loader Operator, and 1 Superintendent) is performing routine maintenance on the crushing plant after a full day of production crushing. One of the ARI Crushing Laborers is performing maintenance on a conveyor (8 feet above the ground). The Laborer slips and falls to the ground. The Plant Superintendent hears the employee scream out for help and runs to the injured employee to assess. The injured employee cannot move and is screaming out in pain, holding his right arm, which is bleeding with the bone exposed through the skin. The injury, coupled with the pain and potential shock from the fall, has left the employee unable to bear weight on his legs or walk. The employee is not wearing fall protection. Complicating the situation, there is a pending thunder and lightning storm, and it is heavily raining. The worksite is located in an area with challenging terrain, making it difficult for traditional emergency vehicles to access the site promptly.
