Scenario #3 - Lowboy Bridge Incident
Background:
An ARI lowboy driver is delivering D-20 to a job site in Portland. During her haul, precisely at 11 am on Wednesday of Thanksgiving week, while passing under a bridge on Terwilliger Curves on I-5 in Portland, she hears a crashing sound. In her mirrors, she sees that the load has shifted on the lowboy, and the tracks of the drill are now off the driver's side of the lowboy. The last remaining binder and chain have broken. After pulling over, the driver is approached by another truck driver who witnessed the incident and offers a ½” chain that is not tagged. As a result, the Lowboy Driver is unsure of the grade or the rating on the capacity of the chain.
